Associate Planner
Perth-based | Flexible working | TBB Planning
Lead project delivery. Build trusted relationships. Grow your planning career with purpose.
TBB Planning is growing, and we are looking for an experienced town planner to join our team as an Associate.
This role is ideal for someone ready to take greater ownership of project delivery while continuing to grow their leadership, commercial and client-facing skills. You’ll be supported to step into more responsibility, work closely with experienced leaders, and contribute to high-quality planning outcomes across Western Australia.
This role is typically suited to planners with around 5+ years’ relevant experience, or equivalent capability. We are more interested in your judgement, communication, project delivery skills and fit with TBB than years alone.
What you’ll do
You may work across statutory planning, strategic planning and place-based projects, including structure plans, scheme amendments, development applications, planning strategies, activity centre work, precinct planning, engagement-supported projects and multidisciplinary place outcomes.
- Manage day-to-day project delivery, actions, deadlines and consultant inputs.
- Prepare and coordinate planning reports, advice, applications, submissions and approval documents.
- Apply strong working knowledge of the WA planning system.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, project managers and government agencies.
- Contribute to tenders, proposals, client presentations and project opportunities.
- Support workshops, stakeholder meetings and community engagement activities.
- Coach junior team members through project work and review-ready outputs.
- Use practical tools, including AI-enabled technology, to improve efficiency, quality and project outcomes.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who can step into project delivery quickly, manage competing priorities and understand what good client service looks like in a private consulting environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
- strong experience in statutory and/or strategic planning
- a sound understanding of WA planning frameworks, approvals and policy pathways
- confidence coordinating project teams and external consultants
- strong writing, organisation and client communication skills
- a collaborative mindset and genuine interest in supporting others to grow
- curiosity and confidence using AI-enabled tools and other technology to improve efficiency, quality and project delivery.
Why TBB?
At TBB, you’ll do work that matters with people who care about the quality of places and the quality of the team around them.
You’ll have direct access to decision-makers, genuine influence over projects and clients, and the opportunity to grow your career without getting lost in a large corporate structure.
We offer:
- Competitive salary aligned to experience.
- Flexible working arrangements and genuine work-life balance.
- Performance-based incentives and milestone bonuses.
- Professional development and clear career pathway support.
- Mentorship from experienced planners and supportive leaders.
- Exposure to high-quality statutory, strategic and place-based planning projects.
- A supportive, social and values-led team environment.
- Barista-style coffee (and snacks!).
