The Goal

The Global Advanced Industries Hub (GAIH) was established to position the Western Trade Coast as a nationally significant destination for advanced and emerging industries. The goal is to create a contemporary, coordinated and future-ready planning framework that supports investment, innovation and sustainable growth across multiple industrial precincts and local government areas.

Our Role

As lead consultant for GAIH, TBB directed a strategic review to align planning frameworks across three local governments. We converted complex land-use barriers into a streamlined roadmap, ensuring the Western Trade Coast is primed for sustained industrial growth.

Through multi-government collaboration and rigorous economic analysis, we delivered targeted reforms to zoning and development controls. These outcomes provide the certainty required to unlock investment, foster innovation, and secure the region’s position as a premier industrial destination.

The Outcome

The project has delivered a comprehensive Strategic Review Report informed by extensive research and engagement, including review of more than 75 planning schemes and policies, assessment of over 250 planning applications, and interviews with industry stakeholders operating across the Western Trade Coast.

The work culminated in a shared vision and implementation strategy that provides clear, practical actions to guide short- and long-term planning reform. This framework is helping align policy settings across three local governments, supporting more consistent decision-making and strengthening the Western Trade Coast’s role as a globally competitive hub for advanced industries.
